Easy for Beginners! Dashcam Firmware Update Guide (Computer + SD Card Version)

Crystal Experience Consultant, Wolfbox Community

Guys! Updating your dashcam firmware isn’t complicated at all. Today, I’ll walk you through the process step by step using a computer and SD card—clear, no tricks, and even newbies can nail it in one go! Updating fixes minor bugs and might even unlock new features, so save this for later and let’s get started.

Pre-Update Prep:

First, grab these three things: a computer, your dashcam’s SD card, and an SD card reader. Important reminder! Back up all important footage on the SD card first to avoid data loss during the update—don’t skip this lesson!

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Download the correct firmware from our official website first! Double-check your dashcam model (don’t download the wrong one—firmware isn’t universal across models!) and save the firmware file to your computer.

2. Connect the SD card to your computer via the card reader. Format the SD card first to delete unnecessary files and free up space. Reminder again: Back up any footage you need before formatting—it’ll be gone afterward!

3. Once the SD card is connected, find the downloaded firmware file (usually .bin or .appsw format) and copy it directly to the root directory of the SD card—that means pasting it right after opening the SD card, not into any folder. Otherwise, the dashcam won’t detect it.

4. Insert the SD card with the firmware back into your dashcam, then connect the power cable. Critical note: Never cut off the power during the update! The dashcam will automatically detect the firmware and start updating. Wait patiently—it will restart and turn on by itself once done.

5. After the device has rebooted, go to the [Settings] menu on your dashcam, find [Firmware Version], and check it. If it shows the latest version, the update was successful!

Quick Tips:

The whole process takes a few minutes. Don’t touch the device or unplug the power—this could cause update failure. If the firmware isn’t detected, it’s most likely because the file is in the wrong directory or you downloaded the wrong model. Just double-check and try again.
